Bratwurst Röslein

It's all about the sausage

The bratwurst fit to Nuremberg like the lid to a pot. That's why it's probably no surprise that the largest bratwurst restaurant in the world is here. On the Rathausplatz, next to the Christkindlesmarkt, is Bratwurst Röslein.

Come on in! Up to 600 guests can find a place here and enjoy the rustic Franconian pub tradition.

There was already a restaurant here in 1493, which was officially named Bratwurst Röslein in 1906. The historical building - as most of Nuremberg - was destroyed in January 1945. After the war, it opened elsewhere until it was rebuilt in 1965-67 and renovated in 1996.

Even celebrities can't pass up a visit to Bratwurst Röslein. In the first centuries of its history, the restaurant could boast about its famous regulars Albrecht Dürer, Hans Sachs, Adam Kraft, Peter Vischer and Willibald Pirckheimer.

Which celebrities visit Bratwurst Röslein today?

Since 2013, the Förster family have welcomed guests to Bratwurst Röslein. They serve freshly prepared dishes from the Franconian region, created with ingredients from (mainly) local producers. In addition to the original Nuremberg bratwurst from which the name comes, which are served as a specialty with various side dishes, one can also find vegetarian food on the menu.
