In the centre of the Unschlittplatz district, Jøwåy invites you to make culinary discoveries. Owner Johannes Hannweg has realised his dream here: a place that combines a wine bar and fine dining. The kitchen offers menus with up to six courses or à la carte dishes, accompanied by a carefully curated wine list with over 100 items. A special highlight is the cheese trolley with up to 21 varieties from the renowned affineur Waltmann from Erlangen. The ambience is characterised by Nordic design with turquoise-coloured sofas and string shelves that present the wine in style. In summer, the terrace invites you to linger. Jøwåy 2025 was awarded a red toque by Gault & Millau for its quality.
Fun fact: The name ‘Jøwåy’ is a combination of the first name JOhannes and his surname Hannweg - creatively reinterpreted typographically.
Johannes Hannweg attaches particular importance to the quality and origin of his ingredients:
"Homemade is a must above a certain restaurant category, as this is a huge aspect of the guest experience. I consciously select, inspect and process the products by hand. I have my farmers, butchers and fishmongers, whom I trust and value the shared learning process. Here in Franconia, regionality is a dream come true for every restaurateur. I can find vegetables, local fish, meat and fruit right on my doorstep."
