Vegetarian and vegan food at the Christkindlesmarkt

Delicious tips for snacks and drinks

Many people are now vegetarian or vegan - partly for ethical reasons, partly for health reasons. Admittedly, the Nuremberg Christmas Market is not exactly a Mecca for fans of meat-free cuisine. Nonetheless, vegetarians and vegans will also find something between their teeth here.

First things first: mulled wine and non-alcoholic hot drinks are also available in vegan versions at all mulled wine stands at the Christkindlesmarkt. The sellers will be happy to help you if you have any questions. One of the highlights here is the vegan organic star mulled wine made from Spanish red wine of the Tempranillo grape variety from Gerstacker. You can get this, for example, at stall number 19 or 31. The vegan organic cherry mulled wine, the vegan organic blueberry mulled wine and the non-alcoholic organic Christmas market children's punch are also delicious. Vollrath also offers vegan mulled wine specialties in organic quality (Booth number 126) such as the white Nuremberg Christmas market mulled wine or the blueberry mulled wine. Sandra Hartnagel at Booth number 6 offers high-quality red, white and even rosé Winzer mulled wine as a vegan version - and there's also vegan apple and strawberry punch for younger guests. It's best to try them all!

At the Wurzelsepp (booth 96) you will find a large selection of fine tea specialties with exceptional flavors. The Nuremberg Christmas punch is also particularly good for warming up. Many of the products here are vegan and organic. It smells, steams and tastes simply wonderful! The "hot apple" made from unsprayed Franconian orchard fruit remains a classic.

If you want to know exactly where to find the stalls at the Christkindlesmarkt, just take a look at the "Budenplan" or use the Trader Search Trader Search at www.christkindlesmarkt.de.

Delicious vegan hot chocolate is available at Dominik Jukic's cocoa and coffee specialty stand with the Number 79. The hot oat chocolate milk with agave syrup tastes simply delicious!

We highly recommend the vegan gingerbread from Lebkuchen-Schmidt, which is made according to a carefully guarded recipe by skilled master bakers. At the Nuremberg company's stand (Number 128 und 138) you can buy organic Nuremberg Elisen gingerbread. Our tip:  At Booth 138 the gingerbread is even baked fresh on site.

Fraunholz-Lebkuchen also offers a completely vegan gingerbread recipe in premium quality, which is not only delicious but also organic and gluten-free (Booth 27).

Many stalls offer vegan roasted almonds and nuts that are only roasted in sugar. A great snack to stroll around the market with in your hand. You can also find vegan chocolate-coated fruit, where the fruit is only covered in dark chocolate. You can find these at Marx Schokolade, for example (Booth 51) oder at the booths with the number 9, 20, 70, 81, 113 und 119. In the candy manufactory from Fürth (Bude 130) you will find vegan candies and lollipops from our own production!

Snacks for vegetarians and vegans at the Nuremberg Christmas Market:

For example, there are the hearty vegan baggers, optionally with apple sauce or cranberries. Don't know what baggers are? Baggers is the Franconian word for potato pancakes! No matter what you call them, they are always delicious - so don't miss the potato pancake stand at Number 146 right next to the town hall on the way up to the castle!

In the middle of the Christkindlesmarkt at booth Nr. 80 you'll find the now legendary mashed potatoes with vegan topping "Thai curry and vegetables". If you order the mashed potato base without cheese and potato cream, the whole dish is vegan. An unusual combination, but one that tastes really delicious. The Thai curry is a little spicy and warms things up nicely! The organic corn on the cob without butter and the mushroom pan with fresh onions and dip are also vegan at this stand.

The vegan Franconian potato wedges at booth Number 64 from Frau Dinkel are also a real recommendation. Crispy on the outside, nicely potatoy on the inside and well seasoned - meat eaters will love them too!

Relatively new are the vegan hot sausages that you can enjoy at booth Nr. 53 with tasty onions, a simply delicious alternative. Also a MUST is the vegan bratwurst at booth 127 by Karin and Norbert Maisel - don't be late, they are often sold out!

Lots of handmade, vegan gift ideas:

The Schleicherei (Number 131) is definitely worth a visit. There you will find hand-boiled, imaginative natural soaps, shower, hair, face and shaving soaps, bath salts, bath bubbles, massage and body butters with great scents in cheerful colors and much more! The official Christkindlesmarkt soap is also available there. Almost everything here is vegan!

As you can see, vegetarians and vegans don't have to starve at the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt - and they certainly won't die of thirst! 😊 And there are vegan gift ideas to boot!
