Schraubenturm

… with the cellar that no one knows

In the shadow of the Königstor Tower is located the so-called Schraubenturm (Screw Tower), which even residents of Nuremberg might not know. Its round exterior is so striking because the windows wind around the tower like the thread of a screw. You have the best view of the tower from the city moat.

A mystery: In the lower part of the tower, there are cellars and rooms which have been closed off for more than 100 years. Today, there is no way to reach them and no one knows what can be found inside.

In the tower, there are some rooms which were inhabited until three years ago. Today, they are used for storage. For many decades, the Schraubenturm was home to a stationery and tobacco shop.
