NIKU - Japanese BBQ & Udon Bar
Two floors of Japan – from street food to haute cuisine
A culinary journey in the heart of Nuremberg
In the middle of the lively Lorenzer Platz district, NIKU opens up new worlds of culinary delights: here, authentic street food meets exclusive haute cuisine – on two floors. Downstairs, the Sanuki Udon Bar invites you to enjoy a simple, honest taste experience with homemade noodles made from Japanese flour. Whether it's a quick bowl for lunch or an izakaya snack in the evening, the ground floor embodies Japan's everyday culinary culture. One floor above, things get luxurious: for the yakiniku grilling experience, chef Yoshimasa Kasai and his team serve rare Ozaki Wagyu beef – one of the most exclusive types of beef in the world, sourced directly from Miyazaki.
Japanese food culture meets the Nuremberg scene
What makes NIKU so special? The attention to detail. From the minimalist interior and respectful service to the storytelling at the table, you can feel the deep connection to Japanese culture. Every dish is prepared with authentic ingredients – from Sanuki flour to certified Wagyu beef. It's not just about the food, but about the experience. In the heart of the old town, NIKU blends perfectly into the atmosphere of Lorenzer Platz: a meeting place for the scene and enjoyment, between shopping, culture and culinary adventure.
Insider tip:
Ozaki Wagyu beef is only available in a few restaurants in Europe – an experience you will never forget.
People with vision and passion
Behind NIKU are founder Quyen Kumpa and her partners Tuan Phung and Son Ngo – a trio that combines cultural roots from Vietnam with a deep passion for Japanese food culture. Their vision: a place where cuisine, craftsmanship and hospitality merge into one experience.
Chef Yoshimasa Kasai is responsible for the culinary signature, using Japanese precision, international experience and genuine dedication to make every dish a tribute to his homeland. Supported by a diverse team of chefs, service staff and trainees, the result is a place that not only serves food, but also inspires – with respect, warmth and a desire to bring guests closer to Japan in a very personal way.
Sustainability tip: By working directly with Japanese producers and carefully selecting ingredients, NIKU focuses on quality with responsibility.
