The Inn "Zum Roten Ross"

Red Horse Inn

The inn “Zum Roten Ross” (The Red Horse Inn) – which was first mentioned in 1541 – was known beyond the city itself. Almost 150 years later, to accommodate guests, the inn keeper expanded the premises with the addition of the Pinkmännische Eckhaus (today Weinmarkt 12a). The opportunity for an overnight stay was enjoyed by none other than Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Emperor Leopold II or the famous balloonist Blanchard.
