Hotel am Jakobsmarkt

Where Albrecht Dürer once walked

The Hotel "Am Jakobsmarkt", which lies in the southern part of Nuremberg’s Old Town, can look back at a long history filled with tradition. In the first generation, the hotel – which was built in the style of traditional Nuremberg Old Town architecture – was led by Wilhelm Hofmann, who turned leadership over to his son Thorsten Hofmann in 2001.

As someone who came from another career, Thorsten had already gathered experience as a host while a child, learned from his grandfather Albrecht in the Brewery Inn Grünen Baum in Pommersfelden. He played in the brewhouse in the mornings while he watched his grandpa at work and, in the afternoons, he helped serve the guests at the regulars’ table. Thorsten was also allowed to help his uncle Friedrich, who took over the Grünen Baum and also cooked there. "That was a wonderful time", says Thorsten.

Our romantic tip: The lovingly decorated rooms “Anno 1552” are perfect for a romantic weekend in Nuremberg. Visible timber framing, wooden ceiling beams and timeless furniture which fits perfectly with this setting welcome you with charm and individuality.
