Food & drink in the historic City Hall
In the heart of Nuremberg, in the historical City Hall, just a few meters from the Main Market Square, the Restaurant Spießgeselle offers Franconian specialties from and on a spit. From the pike of a 16th century mercenary to a grill spit is a small step at Spießgeselle: Shining, polished pikes decorate the walls of this quaint and rustic hall in the vaults of the historical City Hall, long tables and cozy niches invite you to relax and dine, the "Knights' Hall" offers enough space for a merry banquet and at any moment the executioner may appear from around the corner.
Pick up sticks: Many skewers land right on your plate - the "captain's" made from roast beef, the "birds-of-a-feather" from corn-fed chicken or, if you want something vegan, "camp follower" made from market-fresh vegetables. If you want something classically Franconian, you'll also find something here. In addition to crispy pork shoulder, sauerbraten and pickled venison goulash, there are original grilled Nuremberg bratwurst or "saure Zipfel", cooked in a spicy Franconian wine broth. Enjoy!
Christmas Village in Spießgesellen Nuremberg
The Christmas camp in the historical Ratsgasse in the inner courtyard of the Restaurant Spießgeselle is beautifully decorated. Here, you can not only enjoy the holiday atmosphere among fur and sparkling lights, but also a variety of small dishes accompanied by drinks like the "Warm Plum". Naturally there is also mulled wine, warm spiced wine, homemade cider and more.
